Pattern Triology! Which one makes weaving easier?

The pattern by which a weaver starts knotting and finishes weaving a carpet/rug can be included in three types. The first type which is a legacy left from our ancient ancestors could be described as below:

Artists (designers) draw patterns of the carpets based on famous paintings or what they have in their minds on a graph paper. After finishing they hand it to the weaver to start weaving. NOW what is special about it!? Long time ago there was usually only one copy of the drawn pattern becuase it was drawn by real pen and pencils and was not computrized, consequently the weaver must have been a genious artist too because it is actually too dificult to weave a carpet from a pattern drawn on a graph paper. How inteligent the weavers were to be able to find the knots accurately with very similar colours. In conclusion to the first type of the patterns, what we described previously (both designers and weavers are genuine artists) is the sole reason that the handwoven carpets are highly appreciated.

The city of Sardrud which known as the industrial capital of the handwoven rugs of the world located in north west of Iran first came to this conclusion that something should be done to make weaving more easier! So they presented CODE patterns. In this second type of patterns, every colour has a code and every knot has a number which are printed in order on papers. The puzzle solved. Weavers are no longer expected to be proffessional artists. Everything is as clear as crystal in this method. Weaving companies can also hire Simple workers to boost the pace of production. DRAWBACKS? Old expertise couldn’t adapt themselves to new innovatios as in any other field. They describe it as a curse on the weaving art.

The last type, the most recent technology for rug weavers, is the audio pattern reader. This device makes everything look so easy! The only thing a weaver should do is to just press a button so that the device informs him/her what to do! No more confusion for the begginers. By pressing the button the device tells the weaver what colour which knot which row where to tie.
